A new exhibition created by the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest is hosted this year at the Eugenides Foundation in Athens.

The traveling exhibition invites us to an unforgettable journey through time, in the tropical forests of the Aegean: its central exhibits are impressive petrified sekoia trees 20 million years old and an impressive model of the Deinotherium of Lesvos, in natural dimensions with movement and sound.

Deinotheres look like elephants and used to live in the subtropical forest of Lesvos island 19 million years ago.

The exhibition also presents significant fossils from the recent excavations contacted during 2018-2019 in the Petrified Forest of Lesvos, as well as information on plants and animals that lived in Lesvos 19 million years ago.

The exhibition focuses to the unique scientific value of the fossil findings in the The exhibition presents the unique scientific value of the fossil findings in the the Lesvos Petrified Forest and their role as indicators of climate change in the past but also the impacts of the past climate changes to the ecosystems.

Guided tours and educational programs adapted to the age level of visitors, inviting visitors to discover Earth's history and especially the evolution of the Aegean and East Mediterranean area.
