Due to the enthusiastic response from schools to the “History of Writing” program, the EF Library has created another activity titled “The Traveler of Writing,” to provide additional support to schools.

This is educational material in the form of a suitcase, which is provided free of charge to schools on loan. "The Traveler of Writing" includes books, a presentation, games, activities, materials, and writing instruments—in other words, appropriate resources that teachers can use to teach the history of writing in their classrooms.

Using the material provided, teachers can incorporate the games and activities, thereby making the process of understanding the topic an enjoyable one.

Students can also get hands-on experience with the writing materials and tools of the past, by trying them out for themselves (which is why the case contains consumable supplies, which our Library replaces after they are used).

To help teachers prepare more effectively and stay informed, two books are provided that are easy to understand and provide comprehensive coverage of the subject.

The purpose of “The Traveler of Writing” is not only to assist the teacher in the learning process, but also to serve as a starting point for further exploration of knowledge by satisfying students’ curiosity in an experiential and enjoyable way.

Note: The Eugenides Foundation covers the cost of shipping the educational activity to public schools outside Athens.

Before each time a suitcase is loaned out, the items it contains undergo a systematic cleaning and disinfection process, while printed materials are quarantined for 72 hours. In addition to these measures, we recommend that the materials in the bag be disinfected during the activity before being passed from one student to another.
