The green and blue economies are two interrelated pillars of sustainable development, creating new opportunities for the economy and highlighting the importance of innovation, technological advancement, and quality education. The Eugenides Foundation has made support for these two strategic areas one of its key priorities, developing initiatives that link knowledge, education, and production.

In the field of the blue economy, the Foundation draws on its long tradition of maritime education and its close collaboration with the shipping community.  At the same time, starting in May 2023, with the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation on the Blue Economy with the Ministry of Shipping, the Foundation became an institutional partner of the Ministry in this specific sector. Through these partnerships, the Foundation is developing a wide range of initiatives to facilitate the dissemination of new ideas and methods in the sectors of the blue economy, including shipping, maritime transport, port operations, shipbuilding, coastal tourism, and marine renewable energy.

At the same time, the Foundation is developing international partnerships with universities (WMU) and (Waterborne), promoting the transfer of know-how and the exchange of best practices on issues such as the decarbonization of shipping, digital transformation, maritime safety, and the integration of new technologies.

With regard to the green economy, which is a key pillar of sustainable development, the Eugenides Foundation has made support for the green transition one of its strategic priorities, developing initiatives that link scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and education with the needs of industry. Through partnerships with the government, universities, research institutions, and businesses, it contributes to the dissemination of best practices, the development of modern educational initiatives, and the promotion of technologies that support sustainable development.

Drawing on its long-standing experience in technical and maritime education, the Foundation designs and implements modern educational materials, digital learning resources, and specialized training programs, while also developing educational initiatives that address the emerging challenges of the blue and green economies.

However, beyond its contribution to education, the Foundation has developed initiatives to identify existing and emerging green and blue-collar professions that will be needed in the future in each geographic region of the country. Its activities also focus on identifying the technical skills required to practice these new professions.

Through these activities, the Foundation serves as a bridge between the scientific community, education, and industry, contributing to the formation of a modern, sustainable development model and to the country’s smooth adaptation to the environmental and technological challenges of the future.
