The goal of the program is for students to become familiar with modern concepts in machine learning and image classification.
In this workshop, students will create and train their own image classification model quickly and easily using the online tool Teachable Machine.
Through this process, they will understand the importance of using an appropriate initial training dataset and the importance of the validation stage for assessing the accuracy of their model. Finally, they will develop a web application by integrating the model they trained using the JavaScript p5.js library.
Once the web application is complete, users will be able to test it in practice by placing real objects in front of their computer’s camera so that the computer can recognize them and display the correct result.
Learning Objectives:
-Exposure of participants to contemporary fields and concepts in computer science, such as machine learning and image classification.
-Understanding how an image classification model works.
-Introduction to the p5.js library for the JavaScript programming language.
-Introduction to the concept of web application development using p5.js.
