In this series of 5 workshops, we will create and program our own adventure game. Our player's goal? To reach the end of the game by overcoming all the obstacles and challenges along the way!
In the exciting world of Roblox, we get to explore programming and game design through the video games that everyone loves.
Using the game's Design Document as our guide, we'll learn the basic principles of game development through Roblox Studio, the software used to create Roblox games. With the help of design tools, we will understand the principles of 3D modeling. We will create our own models and learn how to place them in the game's virtual space and edit them. Using the Lua programming language, we will program all of the above elements to bring them to life. We will explore the properties of the player and objects—such as texture, transparency, and mass—and, using code, we will learn how to manipulate them. This way, we'll learn basic programming concepts such as variables, functions, and control structures.
At the end of the workshop series, we’ll have the opportunity to publish and share our games with everyone else.
