Textbooks for the Schools of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, as well as for the Secondary Schools of Civil Engineering.

The Technical Library contains 50 titles, which were intended not only for students at the Schools of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, but also to students in the Intermediate Schools of Civil Engineering.

Their authorship was commissioned by the Ministry of Education in 1959.  The quality of their content was higher than that of the books in the Craftsman’s Library, the language was simple Katharevousa, in accordance with the rules in effect at the time, and the cover was a deep red. That is why these books were called the “red books.”

The books in the Technical Library were truly manuals and tools in the hands of foremen, both during their studies and after graduation as they practiced their profession. The books in this library are no longer published by the Eugenides Foundation, following the abolition of the Schools of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Construction Management, as well as the Intermediate Schools of Civil Engineering.

50 τίτλοι

General Structural Engineering - Volume A

General Structural Engineering examines the common structural elements of building projects, their construction methods, and the materials from which they are made. This first volume of General Structural Engineering covers Foundations and Stone Structures.

General Structural Engineering - Volume II

This second volume of General Structural Engineering covers concrete structures. Concrete has become the primary building material, and in Greece, at least, most of the major construction projects consist largely of concrete.

General Structural Engineering - Volume III

This third and final volume of General Structural Engineering covers wooden and metal structures. The goal in writing it was to provide the basic knowledge that would prove useful and sufficient for technical assistants.

Building Materials - Volume I

The study of building materials (that is, the materials of which every engineering project is composed) aims to help the engineer select, for each specific project, the material that will perform best when incorporated into that project. This volume examines topics such as the physical characteristics, properties, and cost of these complex materials, among others.

Building Materials - Volume B

This second volume of the book *Building Materials* covers building materials derived from wood, metals, glass, and plastics, as well as materials intended for aesthetic purposes and, above all, for protecting various parts of structures from external influences (conventional paints and varnishes).

Introduction to Telecommunications Engineering (2nd edition)

This book is a translation and adaptation into Greek of the German work “Einfuhrung in die Fernsprechtechnik,” 7th edition (1964), by Rudolf A. Storch. During the translation, every effort was made to accurately preserve the meanings of the original text. The book consists of three parts: The first covers basic principles of physics, the second covers components used in telephone technology, and the third covers groups of components.

Electrical Engineering Lab Exercises

This book includes a series of practical exercises and applications designed to help students consolidate their theoretical knowledge and put into practice what they have learned in the course.

Applied Electrochemistry

This book is divided into two parts: The first section examines the use of electrical energy to bring about a chemical or physical phenomenon, as well as the production of metals, gases, and industrial fuels. The second part examines the generation of electrical energy through the occurrence of a chemical or physical phenomenon, the causes of metal corrosion and how to address it, as well as the theory of electricity.

Electric Machines - Volume I (Direct Current Machines)

The first volume of the book *Electric Machines* is intended for foremen and technical assistants to electrical engineers. It includes an introduction, which covers unit systems and their relationships, and six chapters that examine the operating principles, construction, and operating characteristics of direct-current machines.

Electric Machines - Volume II (Alternating Current Machines)

The second volume of “Electric Machines” covers alternating current machines. In the nine chapters of this volume, an effort has been made to provide students and technicians—following a brief description of the construction of each machine—with an explanation of its operating principles using simple formulas, its behavior during operation, its other characteristics, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type of machine.
