The Eugenides Foundation, in collaboration with Isalos.net,will continue, during the new academic year, its series of educational events, which was launched in the 2024–2025 academic year to mark the Foundation’s publishing activities.
More specifically, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Eugenides Foundation Amphitheater, an event titled “Changing Course:” New Challenges in Ship Inspections".
The event is being held to mark the presentation of the Eugenides Foundation’s new educational publication titled “Ship Inspections,” by Anastasios Kartsimadakis and Nikolaos Tsekouras, published in 2024. This educational publication has been created with the aim of introducing the reader to the broad subject of ship inspections, with a specific focus on training prospective Navy Officers specializing in the Master’s rank, on all the necessary knowledge, requirements, and challenges related to the inspection of merchant ships.
It is worth noting that, starting in 2024, has written and published eight new books and revised sixteen more titles from the already extensive and renowned “Naval Library.” This collection now includes 68 titles and is intended for female and male students —captains and engineers—at Merchant Marine Academies, thereby making a substantial contribution to the advancement of maritime education,
The event will feature introductory remarks by the book’s authors, who will lay the groundwork for the roundtable discussion that follows, highlighting the main themes and chapters of the educational publication.
At the same time, during the roundtable discussion that will follow, representatives of the Hellenic Coast Guard, ship management companies, and classification societies will discuss issues related to ship inspections,regarding their construction as well as inspections conducted by Port State Control authorities, energy companies, or prospective charterers (Vetting) and classification societies.
