New Teacher Training Program to Improve Maritime Education

The strengthening of secondary vocational and maritime education in our country is provided for in the Cooperation Protocol signed between the Eugenides Foundation and the Institute of Educational(IEP)

The Eugenides Foundation and the Institute for Educational Policy invite teachers of maritime professions at EPAL and PEPAL schools & E.K. in a two-day, 12-hour training program on the use of bridge and engine room simulators.

The training is intended for instructors who teach courses in the fields of Master Mariner and Marine Engineer, as well as related specialties, using simulators, with the aim of enhancing their pedagogical and technical skills in accordance with the STCW 2010 standards.



What the program offers

- Hands-on training in BRM & ERM

- Briefing Application – Simulation – Debriefing

- 20+ ready-made simulation scenarios

- Templates, STCW checklists, and a structured debriefing guide

- Materials for immediate use in the classroom



How is it done?
In person, remotely, or in a hybrid format, depending on the participants’ needs and availability.



When does it start?
The training program begins in December 2025 in Athens and Piraeus and will then be expanded nationwide. Any travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the Eugenides Foundation.


Registration
Teachers at EPAL and PEPAL. in the Maritime Professions Sector and its specializations can express their interest in participating in the professional development program by submitting an application through the IEP’s (Perseus) of the IEP HERE, by registering/logging in and completing the relevant questionnaire, from Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. until Monday, December 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
