As part of the collaboration between the Eugenides Foundation and the National Observatory of Athens, the international educational experiment “Sea the Curve:” is being organized, "The Geosphere Experiment," a modern experimental verification of the Earth’s sphericity, inspired by the methodological approach of the ancient Greek mathematician and astronomer Eratosthenes.
The experiment will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, the day of the Spring Equinox, with the participation of secondary schools from Greece and abroad, ships of the Greek merchant marine, and schools serving the Greek diaspora. The initiative aims to bring together the school community, scientific methodology, and the shipping industry in a joint experiment with a global scope.
