The Eugenides Foundation participated in the 2nd Steering Committee meeting of the SeaAhead (ERASMUS+) project, which took place in Brest, France, on 17–18 March 2026. The meeting was hosted by the project partners CMQe Industries de la Mer - Bretagne and Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique.

During two productive days, partners reviewed progress across all work packages and defined the next steps for the transformation of the MET-NET (Maritime Education and Training Network) -of which the Eugenides Foundation is a founding member- as well as for the development of Regional Maritime Skills Partnerships, the design of a Maritime Centre of Vocational Excellence, and new approaches to innovation, digitalisation, and cybersecurity training.

The program combined focused working sessions with on-site visits, including CINav, an underwater robotics demonstration with Céladon, the Museum Océanopolis 70.8, and a full-day exchange at the IUT (Institut Universitaire de Technologie), Brest Morlaix, offering valuable insights into innovation in maritime education and training. Contributions from France Cyber MaritimeHEOL Sailing and Shipping, and CMQE Industries de la Mer enriched the discussions with important industry perspectives.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from all partners to create a resilient, innovative, and future-proof maritime education ecosystem.

The SeaAhead project, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program, is implemented by a consortium of 24 experienced partners, including leading VET providers, maritime industry stakeholders, innovation hubs, and regional authorities from seven European countries: Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Lithuania, and Ukraine. SeaAhead builds on the results of the SkillSea project.
