Seventy years after its founding, the Eugenides Foundation continues to faithfully serve the vision of the national benefactor Eugenios Eugenides for the advancement of education, science, applied knowledge, skills, and technical education in Greece. With a consistent focus on promoting knowledge, innovation, and equal access to education, the Foundation has, over the years, made significant donations of educational, scientific, and technological equipment to schools and educational institutions throughout the country.

As part of the anniversary year marking its 70 years of operation, the Foundation has developed an extensive grant program for the 2025–2026 period. In the last few months alone, five significant donationshave been made to support technical and vocational education, the natural sciences, maritime training, special education, and the digital transformation of school education, reaffirming its enduring social role.

The first of these concerns the 1st Vocational High School of Didymoteicho “Eugenios Eugenidis,” which received a donation of mechanical and electrical equipment to upgrade its laboratories. The donation included modern tools, electrical equipment, and computers, thereby substantially enhancing students’ practical training opportunities and contributing to the improvement of their technical and vocational training. Shortly before that, the 1st EPAL had also received a donation of an engine room simulator, the creation of the “Marianna Simos Simou Simulator Room,” and the equipping of the laboratories in the Maritime Professions, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering departments. This initiative created a modern, high-quality educational environment, enabling students to learn technologies and procedures that meet the demands of modern shipping.

At the same time, the Xanthi Model Vocational High School received educational and laboratory equipment to upgrade its Natural Sciences lab. The donation included scientific instruments, microscopes, laboratory supplies, and interactive equipment, creating better conditions for experiential learning, experimentation, and familiarizing students with the natural sciences.

With the aim of providing ongoing support for maritime education in the region, the Foundation also made a donation to the 1st Day Vocational High School of Lixouri, Kefalonia, for its Maritime Professions Department. The aid included nautical instruments, engine room equipment, nautical charts, and modern teaching technologies, creating a learning environment that meets the demands of the modern shipping industry.

Of particular importance was the donation to the Alexandroupolis Vocational School for Students with Disabilities, which focused on upgrading the gym and physical education activities for students with disabilities. By providing modern athletic and therapeutic equipment, the Foundation has made a substantial contribution to improving the students’ daily lives, promoting physical activity, rehabilitation, and their social integration.

The fifth donation was made to the 12th Elementary School of Palaio Faliro, which was equipped with modern digital and educational resources, such as computers, laptops, projectors, and stargazing equipment. This initiative supports the school’s digital transformation and enriches students’ educational experience by offering them more opportunities to explore, create, and engage with science.

The five new grants for 2026 join a series of significant initiatives implemented by the Eugenides Foundation in 2025, confirming its consistent commitment to investing in the improvement of educational infrastructure, the promotion of scientific knowledge, and the strengthening of social cohesion.

The Foundation supported the Didymoteicho Folklore Museum and the Karatheodori Family Heritage, by supporting initiatives that highlight the region’s historical, scientific, and cultural heritage, while the Rizia Elementary School in Evros acquired modern technological equipment that enhances the daily educational process and expands students’ opportunities to utilize new technologies in the classroom.

The 2nd Evening Vocational High School of Orestiada received equipment that supported the energy retrofit of its facilities, while the American Agricultural School was provided with technological equipment that enhances its educational capabilities and supports the implementation of modern teaching methods.

These initiatives highlight the Eugenides Foundation’s steadfast commitment to meeting the diverse needs of the educational community, by investing in areas of high social and developmental value.
