The Eugenides Foundation and ELGO-DIMITRA held a five-day training program

The five-day training program on the topic of “Greenhouse Cultivation Techniques,” which took place in Kyparissia from November 10 to 14, 2025. The program was co-organized by ELGO – DEMETRA and the Eugenides Foundation, and was attended by 20 workers in the primary sector specializing in greenhouse cultivation.

The training program consisted of three days of theoretical training and two days of practical training, led by expert instructors from academia, ELGO – DIMITRA, and the private sector.

The theoretical courses were held at the “DIMITRA” Center in Kyparissia and covered topics related to the energy efficiency and sustainability of greenhouses, their construction process, hydroponic systems, as well as techniques for integrated management of greenhouse crop production.

The hands-on training included visits to hydroponic greenhouse facilities for vegetable cultivation, where innovative farming practices were demonstrated. Participants were briefed on automation systems and modern technologies for monitoring the production process, production using the flotation method, as well as the operation of a desalination system for controlling the quality of irrigation water.

At the closing ceremony of the training program, the First Vice President of ELGO–DIMITRA, Mr. Panagiotis Hatzinikolaou presented an honorary plaque to the agronomist—Head of the Trifylia Directorate of Agricultural Economics and Veterinary Services, Mr. Antonios Paraskevopoulos, in recognition of his longstanding and significant contribution to agricultural training and the development of the primary sector.

The collaboration between ELGO – DIMITRA and the Eugenides Foundation is in full swing, and plans are underway to implement new training programs and seminars, with the next region being the Regional Unit of Evros and other regional units of Northern Greece.
