WeTransform is a European project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 (H2020) of the European Union, with the aim of exploring, documenting, and developing new knowledge regarding the impact of automation on the workforce across all modes and sectors of transportation.
WeTransform
Thirty-four (34) partners from 11 European countries and 4 overseas countries (the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Japan) are addressing these issues within the framework of the project, with the ultimate goal of establishing a common thematic agenda with the participation of social partners and building shared knowledge in living hubs, utilizing state-of-the-art technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The project is coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy). The Eugenides Foundation is participating as a partner in a project examining the impact of automation on the shipping industry. The project began in December 2020 and is expected to be completed in November 2023.
WeTransform identifies key obstacles, needs, skills, and capabilities by examining best practices and facilitating the development of targeted and sustainable solutions. It promotes collaboration through three main approaches:
- Create and promote a collaborative platform for discussing the impact of automation on the labor market—and more specifically on the transportation sector—with stakeholders.
- Developing and utilizing shared knowledge related to the impact of automation on the labor market.
- Conducting a participatory and effective ongoing dialogue on innovation, workforce requirements, and conditions.
