Chara Brintezi is a librarian with a master’s degree from the Ionian University (2005) in the field of: “Library Management and Organization with an Emphasis on New Information Technologies” and a Ph.D. from the same university (2018), with a dissertation on the application of findings from research on information behavior to information literacy programs.
She has been working at the Eugenides Foundation since 1987, and has served as the head of its library since 1996. She has participated in various library science conferences and events, both as a member of organizing committees and as a presenter; she has served on and continues to participate in committees and collaborative groups (such as the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs committee for selecting materials for school library collections, the committee of the National Hellenic Library and the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs for the creation of the Thesaurus of Greek Terms, the Organizing Committee for Library Support, and the Network of Maritime Libraries).
Among other things, Chara is responsible for expanding the Library’s collections, developing its automation system, website, and social media presence, promotional activities to raise the Library’s profile and publicize its diverse work, and the organization of events for people of all ages. Above all, however, she ensures the coordinated work of her team and fosters collaborative relationships with other libraries, schools, and organizations, with the goal of expanding services for readers.
