Our Milky Way is a vast stellar system containing hundreds of billions of stars and planets, as well as enormous quantities of gas and dust, within which new stars are born. No two stars, however, are exactly alike. In other words, every star has different physical characteristics, and the main factor determining their evolution and death is their initial mass. So, how are stars born? What will become of the Sun? What are supernova explosions, neutron stars, pulsars, and black holes? How did we discover the massive black hole at the center of our Galaxy?
