The swan song of Dionysis Simopoulos, Honorary Director of the Eugenides Planetarium, was to be the last unpublished musical work by the late, world-renowned composer Vangelis Papathanassiou. To mark the Planetarium’s 20th anniversary, this show looks back at its past performances, featuring unreleased music by Vangelis and narration by Dionysis Simopoulos.
A tribute to science and art by two creators whose friendship and mutual respect for one another are more than evident in this work. From the innate “need” that defines us as intelligent beings to explore the Universe, in our quest to uncover the secrets of the stars, and from the birth of the Solar System to the emergence of life on Earth, this performance is ultimately a fascinating journey of discovery, culminating in this simple conclusion: “We are all truly stardust, and one day we will return to the stars.”
We are stardust
