Maritime English for Deck Officers - Volume 1

This volume serves as a teaching aid for the Maritime English course designed for deck officers (1st, 2nd, and 3rd semesters) offered at merchant marine academies in Greece. Its primary objective is to help students acquire the language skills needed to communicate confidently in the demanding professional environment of the maritime sector. The content of the book is consistent with the guidelines set forth in IMO Model Course 3.17 (Maritime English) and complies with the criteria established by the International Convention STCW 78/95 (as amended) regarding the communicative competence of watchkeeping officers in English.

    Gas Turbines

The purpose of this book is to provide ship engineers with a professional “introduction” to marine gas turbines. In writing this book, an effort was made to meet the needs of students, and data and information were included, primarily in the form of tables, which will serve as a useful resource throughout their professional careers.

    ECDIS

ECDIS is a key aid to safe navigation, integrated into all stages of management—from voyage planning, to monitoring and adjusting sailing conditions, and to preventing and responding to any dangerous situations. A seafarer’s knowledge of ECDIS must encompass a broad range of understanding so that he or she is able to anticipate or address various types of problems, both theoretically and practically.

    Steam Engines (Turbines)

This book includes information on the principles underlying the operation of steam turbines, as well as information on their construction, maintenance, and repair. In addition, the basic auxiliary machinery, networks, and main components required for the construction of propulsion systems for steam-turbine-powered ships are briefly described.

Ship Auxiliary Machinery - Volume II

This second volume of “Auxiliary Ship Machinery” contains detailed descriptions of representative types of auxiliary machinery and equipment, along with the typical layout of the corresponding auxiliary system, where necessary. The large number of figures, diagrams, and illustrations is intended here as well to facilitate understanding of the text.

    Online

This book was written for students at Merchant Marine Academies, in accordance with the Ministry of Merchant Marine’s Educational Regulations, and is intended to familiarize them with the general principles of electronics. The first chapter provided a brief overview of vacuum tubes, even though they are rarely used anymore, while the remaining chapters cover the various steps necessary to understand how a basic transmitter and a basic receiver work.

Automation - Propulsion Systems of Modern Ships

This book includes information on the principles underlying the operation of the various automation and remote-control systems found on modern commercial ships. In writing this book, an effort was made to present the various topics in the simplest, most descriptive manner possible, so that they can be easily understood by students at Merchant Marine Academies and Merchant Marine engineers, for whom it is intended.

    Auxiliary ship machinery

This book provides general definitions and explains the purpose of each auxiliary machine or device. The following are detailed descriptions of these representative types, along with the typical layout of the corresponding auxiliary facility, where necessary. The large number of figures, diagrams, and illustrations is intended to make the text easier to understand.

    Electrical Engineering - Volume I

This book aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the concepts of electrical engineering in such a way that, without omitting anything, each topic is covered as thoroughly as necessary for the mechanical engineers for whom it is intended. To facilitate a better understanding of the text, the book includes practical applications and numerous diagrams.

    Electrical Applications on Ships

The main purpose of this book is to serve as a useful resource for students at the Merchant Marine Executive Training Center (KESEN) and to support their future careers as ship’s engineering officers. The main focus of this book is the applications of electricity on board a ship, and through the material described, the reader is intended to gain a general understanding of the principles on which the operation of the ship’s various electrical devices and machinery is based.

    Thermodynamics

This book examines the laws governing changes in the state of gases and vapors and their further application in the operation of internal combustion engines and steam engines. The purpose of this book is to provide students with the knowledge necessary to understand how engines and machinery operate and the conditions for their optimal performance, in order to ensure better maintenance and more economical operation of thermal facilities.

    Fuels - Lubricants (1st edition)

This book was written to fill a gap in similar textbooks used at technical colleges, and specifically at Merchant Marine Engineering Schools. In addition, it can serve as a useful guide for students’ future careers, keeping them informed about the latest developments in the field of Fuel and Lubricant Technology.
