The Eugenides Foundation actively participated in the European Maritime Skills Forum (EMSF), held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Brussels, contributing to the European dialogue on the evolving challenges of maritime workforce training.

The second EMSF plenary session, marking one year since its establishment, brought together a diverse range of stakeholders, including policymakers, industry representatives, seafarers, education and training providers, and academics. This multi-stakeholder approach highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing the complex challenges facing the maritime sector.

Discussions focused on the development of a modern, resilient, and future-ready maritime workforce, capable of responding to the demands of the green and digital transition as well as the need for continuous upskilling and reskilling across the sector.

The EMSF is organized by the European Shipowners | ECSA and the European Transport Workers' Federation, with the support of MET-NET (Maritime Education and Training Network), as a result of the SkillSea project. It serves as a strategic platform that brings together key actors across maritime education, policy, industry, and advocacy to shape the future of maritime skills in Europe.

Through its participation, the Eugenides Foundation reinforces its role as a key knowledge and innovation hub in maritime education, fostering stronger links between training and labor market needs while supporting a sustainable and competitive future for the European maritime sector.
